Guerrilla Art Los Angeles and Giveaway

Before I get into my little Guerrilla Art adventure, I wanted to share with you an interview I had with Cherie Burbach of  Working Writers and Bloggers, you can read more about Cherie here  . She is an author, blogger and poet.  She is the author of six books and online columnist.  She has written four poetry books including Father's Eyes which received the 2008 Editor's Choice Award by All Books Review.  She stumbled upon my blog and, to my surprise, was impressed and wanted to interview me.  After I stopped blushing, I humbly accepted her request.  It's truly an honor that someone with such honorable standing in the writing world would want to interview me.  If you are interested, you can find the interview here.

It's time for another Guerrilla Art adventure.  I'm joining Marfi Bradford of Incipient Wings in her Guerrilla Friday, Random Acts of Kindness.  The concept is simple, you make something crafty and nice and leave it behind for someone else to find.  But actually doing this is not that simple.  First, you second guess yourself if who ever finds it might actually not like what they find.  Also, when you're looking for the perfect spot, sometimes no spot is perfect.  Finally, when you do find the spot and you begin to take pictures, you wonder if the people around you think that you are up to something bad.....I've done several of these the last few months and that always goes through my mind.  Lastly, it sure gets my adrenaline running and heart pounding as I don't want to get caught leaving it behind.  Then you're left wondering for a couple of hours who might find your little crafty piece...a business man/woman, a "lady of the night", a tourist....

Since the scrapbook paper, I decided to leave this one at the Los Angeles Music Center, downtown Los Angeles, which is the largest performing arts center in the United States.  And more specifically within the Music Center, I left it at the  Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, where I see all my favorite operas.  Placido Domingo is the General Director and James Conlon and Gustavo Dudamel are the music directors. Guerrilla Art Friday

Welcome to another Guerrilla Art Friday, a linky party created by Marfi of Incipient Wings.  It's a day of giving something hand made by you to a total stranger.  Someone you have never met and probably will never meet.

Have you ever found something nice on the street, in the subway,or at a bus stop and felt so lucky that you just had to tell everyone? well, leaving something special behind for a random person to find will, hopefully, do just that.  But I must confess that it is as rewarding for me as I'm sure it is for the person who finds it. 

For my little Guerrilla Art Friday I decided to leave that cute little miniature book pendant I made a couple of days ago, a step by step tutorial can be found here: "The Kiss" should be a fitting title.

I decided to leave it at the Central Library outside in the front lawn area: see it there on the bench, in a small box:

The Los Angeles Public Libray is one of the largest publicly funded library systems around the world, with over 6 million volumes.  The Central Library, located downtown, was originally constructed in 1926.  It is the third largest library in the United States.  It was designed with influences of Ancient Egypt and Mediterranean Revival architecture.

ATC Swap and Guerrilla Friday

Gotta love the post office....they bring me such nice things (except my bills).  Today I got this cute ATC card from Marilyn of Busy Martha from our card swap, the theme was White/Snow:

My first Guerrilla Friday, yay! Guerrilla Friday was started by Marfi Bradford of Incipent Wings .  It's a day you make something nice for a complete stranger.  

I had so much fun with my Guerrilla Friday this morning.  It was quite an adventure. Look at the view this morning, the little bright spot on the left is the moon...pretty...This is a view of downtown Los Angeles from the third street bridge.  My little escapade took place to the right of all the buildings you see below:

It's a little girly but I figured, who ever finds it probably has a daughter or a niece.  The three divas are rubber stamped images I purchased at Stampotique. 

I chose to leave this near the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels.  Here's a picture of where I left my artwork with a note that read, "hello stranger, take me with you", lol.:  

It was not easy leaving it there since there's people everywhere you look.  I tried acting like a tourist, I figured my tactic would work because I had the camera.  But still, I may have looked a little suspicious to a group of young boys standing a few feet away.  As I walked away and greeted them good morning, I wondered if they would eventually see it.  But then, as I walked up the street, I saw a bus headed for the bench.  I turned to watch.....maybe one of it's passengers getting off the bus would find it???

The Cathedral was dedicated in 2002.  The Cathedral was designed by the Spanish architect, Rafael Moneo. It can accommodate over three thousand people.  The ceremonial room stands one hundred feet tall!  The complex is 58,000 square feet and it's twelve feet high.  Here's a picture from Wikipedia:
