Tablescape Thursday

It's time again for my favorite linky party, Tablescape Thursday, by Susan at Between Naps on the Porch.  Although I'm currently on vacation, I just couldn't miss this linky.  There hasn't been a Thursday I haven't visited links at Susan's party, since I found her a year ago.  You'll see BEAUTIFUL tables, formal and casual, with lovely tableware.  Today is especially wonderful since mostly everyone will be showing off their Easter tables.

For my Easter table, I decided to use a set my husband purchased for me at an estate sale.  Although sometimes he gives me a hard time because I have over a dozen sets of dishes and, yes, I keep buying more! he's such a sweetheart to purchase this set for me.  The design is a white picket fence with spring flowers, perfect for Easter.

here's a closer look:

I love these cute little birds, salt and pepper shakers, I found at Marshall's

Happy Easter everyone, if you don't celebrate Easter, Happy Spring to all.  Don't forget to visit Susan at Between Naps on the Porch.

Never Ending Card

Have you heard of the never ending card? they are all over the internet.  I found a great tutorial you can view On you tube from the Couture Crafter.  I wanted to try and make one for a friend who is in her forties and just recently started dating again.  I used Tim Holtz rubber stamps and Hampton Art Cling rubber stamps.  It is much easier to follow the YouTube tutorial (see link below) but I'll post a picture tutorial too.

here's a preview of the card.....
All you need is two pieces of paper and scissors
First, cut your two pieces of paper to the measurements on the picture
Next, you will fold both pieces of paper to the measurements on the picture below:
make sure you crease your fold towards the front as well as towards the back to give it a nice crisp foldNext, place some glue to the four corners of the paper and glue both papers together by the corners:
Only the four corners should be glued together, it will look like this, one layer on top and one on the bottom:
Next, simply cut the front layer going verticle down the middle of the paper, all the way down;
next, cut the back layer of the paper going horizontal all the way accross, like this;
it will look like this, the front is cut verticle and the back is cut horizontal with the corners glued together :
Lastly, embellish your card, here's mine:
Front view, so little time, so many men:
open folds, next view:
next view, lift up the key for message:
"don't bother ringing my doorbell, I'm hard of hearing":
next view "I'm still hot!!!....It just comes in flashes":
The reason why it's called "Never Ending Card" is because the next fold will take you back to the beginning! pretty cool.  You can see the full effect of this card and an easy to follow tutorial by visiting TheCoutureCrafter on YouTube.

Guerrilla Art Friday

Welcome to another Guerrilla Art Friday, a linky party created by Marfi of Incipient Wings.  It's a day of giving something hand made by you to a total stranger.  Someone you have never met and probably will never meet.

Have you ever found something nice on the street, in the subway,or at a bus stop and felt so lucky that you just had to tell everyone? well, leaving something special behind for a random person to find will, hopefully, do just that.  But I must confess that it is as rewarding for me as I'm sure it is for the person who finds it.

For my little Guerrilla Art Friday I decided to leave that cute little miniature book pendant I made a couple of days ago, a step by step tutorial can be found here: "The Kiss" should be a fitting title.
I decided to leave it at the Central Library outside in the front lawn area: see it there on the bench, in a small box:
a closer look, it's on the arm rest:
The Los Angeles Public Libray is one of the largest publicly funded library systems around the world, with over 6 million volumes.  The Central Library, located downtown, was originally constructed in 1926.  It is the third largest library in the United States.  It was designed with influences of Ancient Egypt and Mediterranean Revival architecture.
This is the very top of the library, a pyramid:

The front lawn has several fountains:
And the World Peace Bell is there

here's the entrance:

behold! the inside:

here's a look up:
and a look down:
I guess I should have taken a picture of where the books are held.  But they are sectioned off to the right and left of the section in the picture above.

Leaving the library is this long hallway.  Now on to the outside:
The library is surrounded be very tall skyscrapers:

You can even enjoy a little live jazz music while you read

Have a great weekend everyone and thanks for stopping by.
